Part-Time Jobs in Cosmetics

The cosmetics industry is a very exciting and widely encompassing area. Many people have gotten their careers started by taking on part-time jobs (nebenjob) in cosmetics. Whether you have a degree or are pursuing one, or you simply want a career change, this often fast-paced environment is exciting to say the least. There are many avenues to choose from in the cosmetics industry. From estheticians to makeup artists and everything in between, in order to take on a part-time job in cosmetics, you must first decide which avenue you are most interested in.

Cosmetics can include salon and spa owners or workers, esthetics instructors, sales representatives and beauty editors to name just a few. Buyers and assistant buyers are also included in the wide range of career choices. Cosmetics buyers work either in a department store or salon and must keep informed of all the latest cosmetic products and procedures in order to keep their facility stocked with things that customers will purchase. Travel is often required in many cosmetics related fields. There are college degrees that will help if you are planning to pursue a long-term career in the cosmetics field.

However, for part-time jobs in cosmetics such as sales representatives and assistant buyers, no formal education is typically required. Many college students find it very beneficial to pursue a part-time job in the cosmetics (kosmetik) industry if they are working toward their degree in a cosmetics related field. By taking on a part-time job they still have time for their studies but they also get to experience working in their field of choice. Working in cosmetics is very exciting and many people choose this field simply to be part of research projects that will determine new products. Whatever related field is interesting, it is an excellent idea to “get your feet wet” by taking a part-time job in the cosmetics industry if you have a passion for people’s appearance or if you are planning to pursue a full-time career in the field.
