Online Business Mapping

Online Business Mapping has been steadily rising through the years. Most of these maps are placed online in the software providers’ servers and are usually used by companies to distribute their navigational information throughout their network in an easier manner. Since the advent of these technological advances, companies have been able to capitalize and improve on their geographical and territorial needs. There are also online business maps that help companies improve their work flow and create concepts and systems that allow them to either increase work efficiency or profit

The Two Major Uses of Online Business Mapping

1. Geographical Needs
Online Business Mapping has allowed these companies to move faster and make the necessary changes that affect their business. Companies capitalize on the geographic locations of their competition and set up shop in a more strategic location.
Online business maps also help navigation and examination of certain resources available in an area. A good example is the oil industry. The oil industry relies heavily on the maps they have on the field.
They always need to know the status of their oil fields and its transportation at all times. Missing details or errors are costly mistakes to this industry and online business maps have helped them reduce this immensely.
It is also important for small and medium enterprises to use online business maps in order to make sure that their store is placed in a strategic location. Businesses like these can’t steer close to their big competitors and lose profit. Examples of these are: Supermarkets and other retailers.

2. System and Work Efficiency
Today, there are more online business maps available in the market. Most of these maps are variations of two major mapping tools: Mindmapping and Process Mapping.
Mindmaps are maps that are used for brainstorming and systematizing processes. Its main point is the use of radiant thinking in order to work faster and easier. Radiant thinking means that you do not think in a certain order. You just place what comes in your mind in a piece of paper until you have exhausted your ideas. This is very useful in brainstorming and concept/product creation. There is a free version online called “freemind” and there are a lot of paid versions, but the concept is basically the same.

Process Maps
Process maps are maps that are use to systematize workflow and increase efficiency. These maps are also used to be able to determine the options available for a certain process. The process map’s predecessor is the computer which is controlled by this function. Usually the process has 2-3 decision for a certain actions and the workflow resets from there. The most famous software for this would still be visual basic. Overall, online business maps have increased the efficiency of the entire business world. The ability to know exactly what is going on in your target market coupled with the ability to increase work efficiency has made the business world very competitive. With advances like these, business proficiency only boils down to proper research and sure-fire execution.
